The Census Bureau has introduced an updated population clock that now features population statistics as well as US export and import data. The live count of the US population and world population change by the second. Statistics show that the US ranks third in the world behind China and India with a population of 321,700,733 as on 10:51am PST on Tuesday, September 8th, 2015. The state of California has the largest population in the country at 38,802,500, followed by Texas at 26,956,958.
In the US, statistics are broken down by counties and cities. New York City topped the list for most populated cities at 8,405,837, and Los Angeles ranks second at 3,884,307. The East Coast reigns in population density.
In southern California, LA is ranked first for the most populated county in the nation, while neighboring areas of San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties make the top ten.
Population estimates are taken from the 2010 census and have the latest data from July 1, 2014.
